Grace Caraher - Associate Director

Grace is an Associate Director at Raretec Recruitment Ltd., specialising in the recruitment of Qualified Actuarial professionals within the financial services sector, with a particular focus on the Life and Non-Life insurance industries.

She has extensive experience recruiting both permanent and contract hires, partnering with a diverse range of organisations, including start-ups, greenfield sites, as well as established and multinational companies to facilitate growth and build out teams.

Grace’s expertise in actuarial recruitment is strengthened by her background in the financial services sector. Prior to her role at Raretec Recruitment Ltd., she spent over 9 years at Brightwater, recruiting Accountancy positions across the Financial Services sector. Earlier in her career, she gained valuable experience in client services positions within financial services companies in Dublin and Barcelona.

Grace holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) from Dublin City University (DCU) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Enterprise from University College Dublin (UCD).

Kate Henebry - Associate Director

Kate is an Associate Consultant at Raretec Recruitment Ltd., specialising in the recruitment of Graduate and Trainee Actuarial professionals within the financial services sector, with a particular focus on the Life, Non-Life, Reinsurance, and Consultancy industries.

She has experience supporting the recruitment of actuarial hires across a wide variety of organisations, including multinational insurance companies, specialist consultancies, helping them to attract early-career talent and build strong actuarial teams.

Since joining in 2022, she’s advanced quickly—appointed Manager in 2024 and Associate Director in 2025. Kate also leads Raretec’s graduate and internship programme.

Kate holds an MA in Shakespeare Studies from King’s College London and a BA in English Literature & French from Trinity College Dublin.

Kathryn Thornton - Lead Researcher

Kathryn is a Lead Researcher at Raretec Recruitment providing key administrative and research support to the actuarial recruitment division across Life, Non-Life, and Pensions sectors.
She plays an integral role in the successful delivery of project-based recruitment campaigns, ensuring smooth operations from initial outreach through to final placement.

Kathryn brings a strong background in public sector recruitment, with extensive experience in process management, compliance, and high-volume coordination. Her expertise lies in driving operational efficiency—maintaining accurate records, aligning candidate schedules, and managing communications to keep recruitment processes running seamlessly.

Kathryn holds a Certificate in Human Resource Management, which further enhances her capability in providing structured, process-driven recruitment support.

Estelle Davis - Strategic Advisor and Board Member

Estelle works alongside the Raretec team in her capacity as a strategic advisor and board member.

She has 22 + years deep expertise in senior level search across the life and general re/insurance sectors,  specialising in C-Suite / Director and Head of Function hires.

She supports our insurance clients with their wider senior leadership hires across their full operating model. Samples of her recent appointments include, Managing Director, Head of Underwriting,

Head of Data Insights & Claims Governance, Chief Risk Officer, Head of Bancassurance Products, CFO, Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Strategy & Change.

She is a regular contributor to round table discussions in the insurance and financial services sector, is a member of the ISC Group (which support senior professionals in their leadership roles within the insurance sector).

She speaks French and Japanese and holds a BBS in International Business & Japanese & a Diploma in Corporate Governance

 

John Hannon - Chairperson

John Hannon is the Chairperson of Raretec and qualified as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland in 2000.  John has worked in a range of actuarial and financial services roles across non-life insurance, reinsurance, brokerage, and private equity.  John has extensive experience in the wider fields area of the actuarial space and has been involved in a range of investment transactions in the insurance brokerage, technology, staffing, and training spaces.
