Our client is seeking an Actuarial Trainee to join its growing Actuarial function on a permanent basis.
This hybrid role is based in south Dublin and offers broad exposure across reserving, Solvency II reporting, and IFRS 17 reporting, alongside involvement in the day-to-day operations of the Actuarial team.
The successful candidate will report to a Qualified Actuary and will be supported with study sponsorship towards actuarial qualification. This is a strong opportunity to join a well-established team within a major international financial services group.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply best estimate reserving techniques to prepare quarterly reserve estimates with accompanying narrative explanations
- Support Solvency II analysis, with a particular focus on Technical Provisions calculations
- Provide assistance to the IFRS 17 reporting team
- Support internal projects and initiatives, including granular claims trend investigations and stakeholder engagement on mitigating actions
- Assist with year-end actuarial certification, audit engagement, and Solvency II quarterly and annual regulatory reporting
- Contribute to upgrades and improvements to actuarial software and systems, including reserving software
- Assist in the preparation of materials for quarterly Board and group risk management meetings
Requirements
- 2 to 4/5 years’ experience in an insurance actuarial environment, preferably with non-life experience
- Some knowledge of Solvency II requirements and familiarity with IFRS 17
- Reserving knowledge and experience, ideally with exposure to specialist reserving software (e.g. ResQ)
- Previous fleet motor and/or personal lines motor experience would be an advantage
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and statistics
- Strong time management, organisational skills, and ability to work to strict deadlines
- Ability to communicate well with international teams and non-actuarial stakeholders
