We’re excited to support a well-established life insurer in their search for an Internal Model Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified Actuary to take on a senior role within a collaborative and highly skilled Risk Management team, contributing directly to the oversight and evolution of a Solvency II Internal Model.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Quantitative Risk Management, the Internal Model Manager will act as the Internal Model Owner and provide subject matter expertise on areas such as ESGs, hedging, and risk exposures. This role plays a key part in the development, validation, and communication of Solvency II capital requirements and model outcomes.
You’ll work in a dynamic team environment, supporting internal risk initiatives and driving the enhancement of risk modelling capabilities across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Internal Model Owner, ensuring models remain appropriate and compliant
- Lead the production and analysis of Solvency II capital calculations and projections
- Support and enhance modelling to ensure comprehensive risk exposure capture
- Oversee the internal model validation process and maintain regulatory documentation
- Compare outputs from the Standard Model and Internal Model
- Develop tools and analytics to explain SCR requirements and risk exposures
- Serve as liaison with group modelling teams and external consultants
- Contribute to broader risk communications and management deliverables (e.g. dashboards, risk papers)
- Mentor and assign tasks to junior team members during model production cycles
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Actuary with strong technical expertise in financial and actuarial modelling, with a minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience
- Deep understanding of life insurance products and capital modelling under Solvency II
- Demonstrated ability to manage workload and support junior colleagues
- Proficient in tailoring complex communication to stakeholders at various levels
- Commercial awareness of insurance markets and customer needs
